Welcome to our website!
CAMHS means Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
Child and adolescent mental health disorders are surprisingly common affecting 10-20% of children and young people. Most young people will get support from family, school, youth workers, health visitors and GPs but sometimes there may be need for a more targeted or specialist service.
In Stoke-on-Trent there is a range of care pathways and services to provide help, support and treatment where required. Some of these are provided by the NHS and others are provided by organisations such as charities.
We have put together the information on this website for children and young people, parents / carers, grandparents, and professionals to use.
Some examples of issues CAMHS can help with include angry behaviour, anxiety, depression, eating difficulties, low self-esteem, obsessions or compulsions, sleep problems, self-harming, stress and the effects of abuse or traumatic events.
Call 0300-123-0907 and choose option 4 (9-5pm weekdays) if you have an urgent enquiry about a child/young person’s mental health that you would like to discuss with a mental health practitioner. You can also make a referral via this number.
